Festivals

Our ancestors knew only the duality of reckoning time in our Middle-Earth; summer to winter, day to night, Sunne to Mani. The passing of the seasons were integral to the livelihood of our forefathers, as they are to Paganism now.

The festivals we observe within the Order follow the cycle of the full moons (lunisolar) as in the days of our noble past. In this, we observe 12 major festivals.

Yuleblot

A festival dedicated to Woden the All-Father.

Nerthusblot

The festival of Nerthusblot as a very sacred time in the year; the point at which summer and winter meet. As the early grips of Wuldor’s kingdom arrive, we venerate Nerthus, our Mother Earth, in her holy space; the sacred grove. Within nature’s bounty is where she dwells and it is here she is worshipped with the Rite of Blot.

Much as Sunne is to Mani in the cycle of the day, Nerthus is to Wuldor in the passing of the seasons. This cycle is observed during Nerthusblot as we await the trial the winter months will bring on us all.

Nertthus is presented with offerings that would best please her as our Mother Earth; fruits, vegetables and organic grains. This is offered as votive within the sacred grove, with libations of fresh water and wine being given respectfully by all attending. A Gothi is required to oversee this festival and perform the Rite of Blot.

Our Order details more on our frithful Earth Mother (see Nerthus).
